The Bible and Climate Change

The following is taken from the main body of Episode 4 of my NUCLEAR PASTOR: Critical Mass podcast…

In this podcast we’ll explore the issue of climate change from a Biblical perspective, and we’ll begin that exploration by taking a brief look into the highly amusing history of the climate extremists over the past several decades.  After that we’ll get a bit into the science and politics involved with the climate change movement, and then we’ll look into the Biblical history and future of climate change.  Finally, we’ll end by looking into how we can Scripturally be true, honorable stewards of our amazing planet.

SUBJECT

So, let’s get this party started by looking into the rather hilarious history of climate alarmism over the past several decades, since it helps to set the stage for why most thinking people believe the current idea of climate change and its supposedly imminent disastrous effects upon the future of Earth is, to put it nicely, a bunch of malarkey.  And so, here’s a general list of what’s been put forward just in my lifetime, which has us starting with the doomsday prophets and their prophecies from the 1960s.

Way back in the sixties, when Earth’s population was less than half of what it is today (around 8 billion), it was predicted by the prophets of doom that we would enter a time of mass starvation, and that the 1970’s would see hundreds of millions of people dying from starvation each year, which, of course never materialized.  And so, in the 1970’s, the doomsday prophets changed their tune into forecasting imminent doom for Mother Earth via global cooling, which would usher in the next ice age, which in turn would render the planet virtually unlivable by 1990, or certainly the year 2000 at the latest.

Well, there was just one problem with this prophesied scenario – Earth didn’t cooperate, but instead continued to warm, and so now the 1980’s alarmists shifted to forecasting global warming, and so first began to speak about greenhouse gases – you know, those evil components of the atmosphere that would for sure warm the planet into total catastrophe.  Bringing us to the 1990’s, which became the decade of promising Earth’s demise via the absolutely-certain-beyond-a-shadow-of-a-doubt issue of global warming, which, of course, is blamed solely on human life and human industry.

But, the hilarious thing about this was that during the 90’s and early 2000’s, every time the global experts went to hold a global warming conference in order to facilitate saving the world from global warming, it usually ended up being far colder than normal for the event, leaving everyone with global warming egg on their faces.  Heck, it almost seemed like God was toying with them.  And so, tired of dealing with so much egg on their faces, in the latter 2000’s and early 2010’s, the climate doomsday prophets shifted to prophesying about “climate change,” since it would be very hard to embarrass the idea of climate change, because it’s a completely vague and completely undefined term – meaning that it can be used for whatever reason you need to use it in order to prove your point.

So, what do I mean by that?  Well, here’s how it works, and why the term “climate change” is such a stroke of genius by the forecasters of climate disaster.  For instance, if it’s warmer than usual, that’s what you’d expect from climate change, but if it’s colder than usual, that’s also what you’d expect from climate change.  If there’s more rain than usual, that’s what you’d expect from climate change, but if there’s a drought, that’s also what you’d expect from climate change.  If the hurricane season is busier, that’s what you’d expect from climate change, but if the hurricane season is less busy, well that’s exactly what you’d expect from climate change.  And on and on it goes…

So, do you see how this works, and how absolutely ingenious a setup this is?  Everything (every single weather phenomenon, bar none) points to climate change, and nothing points away from climate change.  No matter what’s going on with the weather, it all points to climate change.  That’s pretty nifty, but it certainly isn’t scientific, because there’s no way to disprove this fuzzy idea.

And so, because of so much apparent evidence pointing to their inescapable conclusion of climatic doom, this also gives those who desire to control the people of planet Earth (and yes, these climate changelings are the same people who want to control every aspect of our lives, by the way) the perfect reason to pursue wholesale civilizational change in order to prevent such doom (meaning to protect the planet from humanity).  So, let’s talk briefly about that doom.

First, the doom from which they’re supposedly saving us is – wait for it – the utter planetary catastrophe of Earth’s temperature rising by 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) over 50 years (half a century!).  Yep, you heard that right, according to these prophets of climate doom, if it’s an average of less than 3 degrees warmer in the year 2074 than it is today, all is lost for humanity, civilization and planet Earth.  Might as well start colonizing the stars, baby, because this is it.

Now, if you’re paying attention, you’ll have just noticed that what they’re really warning us about here is actually our old friend global warming, only they can’t use that term any more because nature just doesn’t cooperate with it.  But that doesn’t change a darn thing for the climate changelings – they’ve really got their undies in a bunch over the mere possibility of the average temperature rising a half a degree Fahrenheit per decade.

And so, let’s get back to our doomsday prophets and their timeline.  Because of this prophesied fearsome, human existence-challenging slight rise in temperature over the coming half a century, the amazing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez predicted in 2019 that we’d experience utter doom by the year 2031, while also in 2019, the President of the U.N. General Assembly prophesied Earth’s destruction by 2030, and a sixteen-year-old Swedish girl lectured the entire world from the United Nations’ bully pulpit, famously screaming at all of us, “How dare you!”

So, let’s put this into perspective by bringing in just a little bit of good old-fashioned science, and let’s begin doing so with some talk about our sun.  Essentially, these alarmists are insisting that this global warming (oh, excuse, me, I mean climate change), but they’re insisting that this climate change is due primarily to human activity, such as:

  • There’re too many of us breathing
  • We have too much industry
  • We drive too many cars
  • We use gas stoves
  • We raise too much beef, which fart too much while alive
  • We use too much fossil fuel, etc., etc., yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah

But, you see, there’re some problems with that, and one of them is called the Medieval Warm Period.  The Medieval Warm Period was a roughly 400-year span, from ~ 800 AD to ~1200 AD, where the temperatures across Europe and what would become the Americas warmed by a few degrees, and which is credited with pulling Europe out of its Dark Ages and allowing European civilization to flourish.

Now, because the Medieval Warm Period is so embarrassing to the climate alarmists, it’s hilarious to see the lengths they’ll go to in order to discredit it as merely a local phenomenon – meaning a thing specific to the European and American continents (which, by the way, is half the world we’re talking about).  So, why is it so embarrassing to them?  Well, because it was global warming a long, long time before the industrial revolution occurred; it was global warming a long, long time before our civilizational dependence upon fossil fuels; it was global warming and a long, long time before Earth was dealing with a minimum of 4 billion people, which is roughly when their prognosticating began.

Yep, you heard that right.  A period of sustained global warming occurred centuries before all of the bogeymen of the global warming prophets (meaning too many humans, too many cattle, too much industry, too much reliance on fossil fuels, etc.) actually existed, bringing us to the true cause of global warming, and also of global cooling for that matter – the sun.

To put it mildly, we paltry little Earthlings (and I mean the whole lot of us), simply cannot compete with the sheer volume of British Thermal Units being pumped continuously into our atmosphere by our sun, and to think otherwise is akin to a colony of ants contemplating with great pride the amount of dirt they’ve moved in order to build their cozy little home, while half a mile away a fleet of bulldozers is really going to work.  We just can’t compete with the power of the sun.

But the issue with our sun is that it isn’t a Swiss clock – it doesn’t run at steady state without ever changing.  Instead, it waxes and wanes in strength.  When it waxes in strength, Earth is warmer.  When it wanes in strength, Earth is cooler.  And we have absolutely no control over that – meaning that the sun is beyond our control.  Even Greta Thunberg’s control, if you can believe that.  How dare it!

So, how do we know that?  Well, when we go through a cooling period here on Earth, so, for instance, do our neighbors Venus and Mars (which share our sun).  When we go through a warming period here on Earth, so, for instance, do our neighbors Venus and Mars (which share our sun).

But let’s look at it another way.  Look at the differences in temperature in the same location between noon every day and midnight every day.  With all things being equal (meaning no cold fronts or warm fronts moving in), this difference (depending upon where in the globe we’re talking about) averages around 25-30 degrees Fahrenheit.  So, what’s the difference between noon and midnight?  That’s pretty easy: The sun is out at noon, and the sun is hidden at midnight.  It all hinges on the strength of the sun.

Now, before we move into the Scriptures, there’s one more piece of simple science we need to look into, and that’s the climate changelings’ ridiculous and unscientific war on carbon, which is why they’re always crying about how big our carbon footprint is, and how we need to lessen the carbon-dioxide in our atmosphere, since it’s one of those offending (oh my goodness!) greenhouse gases.  Ooooooh!

And so first off, let’s review some basic biology from grade school (at least it was grade school stuff back in the 60’s and early 70’s for me).  They’re probably teaching about transgender carbon these days, but I digress…

Simply put, carbon dioxide (CO2) sustains life on planet earth.  It works like this: All breathing things inhale oxygen out of the air, use it to keep our bodies alive, and then expel CO2 when we breathe out.  The plant life of planet Earth then take in that CO2 as fuel, and in reaction with sunlight through photosynthesis, turn that CO2 back into breathable oxygen.  So, the more CO2 that we have in the atmosphere, the healthier the plant life will be.  And when the plant life is healthier, then we have more oxygen to breathe.  Breathing things need plants, and plants need breathing things.  Wow, it’s a beautiful symbiosis that, gosh, almost seems like it was designed by, oh I don’t know – God?

And so you see, the climate changelings are actually waging war on the very basics of nature itself, and are warring against the design of God, which is par for the course for those enamored of the Evil Kosmos.  Now, while we’re on the subject of science, I’d be remiss if I didn’t have some words to say about how these supposed climate experts are coming to their never-ending doomsday scenario conclusions, so let’s do that now.

To put it as simply as possible, these self-proclaimed experts are coming to their conclusions based upon computer models of Earth’s behavior.  Yes, you heard that right – computer models of Earth’s behavior!  Just stop and think about that a bit.  These are people who have never created a universe, as God has.  These are people who have never invented life, as God has.  And these are people who have never created all of the ingredients necessary for life to exist on Earth, as God has.

And so consider, for a moment, the phenomenal degree of human hubris and arrogance shown by such “experts,” who think their paltry, little computer models can somehow contain all of the myriad and magnificent variables of Earth’s constantly changing conditions, in just the right amounts for each, in order to come up with something that can be even remotely accurate in their conclusions.  Essentially, it’s utter madness, and we should be as skeptical of such egomaniacal people as their egos are huge.  I can’t blame them for trying, but they’ve all lost sight of how insignificant both they and their computer modeling are when compared to the vastness, magnificence and complexity of this planet, which is so wonderfully designed by God.

But I tire of dealing with the false prophets of climatic doom, so since we’ve now spoken of God, let’s turn to His Word and see what the real prophets have to say, and for that we’ll go to the wonderful Book of Revelation.  The great thing about the Bible is that it tells us in advance how the world’s gonna end, which thankfully removes all of the angst regarding the end-of-the-world doomsayers of today, who constantly chirp in our ears with their apocalyptic rantings, so let’s do a quick review of the actual apocalypse, known to us in English as the final book of the Bible: Revelation.

Essentially, chapters 6-16 of Revelation detail how the age in which we currently live is going to end.  And guess what?  It’s going to end with a whole bunch of really bad things happening to the climate and ecosystems of Earth, but these bad things won’t be generated by humanity.  Instead, they’ll be generated by God from Heaven.

It begins with the 7 Seal judgments, then moves on to the 7 Trumpet judgments, and finally ends with the 7 Bowl judgments, all of which leave Earth a vastly different place than it was back in Chapter 5.  But the interesting thing here is that these climate/ecological disasters won’t be the result of too much carbon, or too much plastic, or too many automobiles, or too much cow flatulence.  Not even close.  No, the climate/ecological disasters that are coming will be due to God’s judgment on human wickedness, also known as sin, which is also known as evil conduct.  And these judgments do have a devastating effect on the climate of planet Earth, as we shall now see.

In the Book of Genesis, there are two major climate catastrophes.  The first one is found in Chapters 7 & 8, and is known in Hebrew as the mabul mayim, which means the hydraulic catastrophe, and which is known to us as Noah’s Flood.  This judgment by God from Heaven resulted in climate change the likes of which have never been seen since, and the reason for this judgment is rampant human sin, or rampant evil conduct by humanity.

The second climate catastrophe is found in Chapter 19, and is the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (something that has left the Dead Sea area between Israel and Jordan virtually uninhabitable to this very day).  And again, the reason for this judgment from Heaven is rampant human sin, or rampant evil conduct by humanity, this time of the homosexual flavor.  So what’s the bottom line here?  Well, it’s a clear message to the climate changelings of today that if they’re really and truly worried about climate change, God suggests that holy living is the right answer.  That’s the best way to protect the environment.

Okay, Barry, so what’s really going on here?  If the climate changelings have always been wrong about their predictions, and their attempts at science are junk, what are they trying to accomplish?  Well, the answer to that is simple: they want to control everyone.  That’s all this is – a method of population control.  Let me explain.

In the Bible, but primarily in the books of Daniel and Revelation, we know that the Evil Kosmos will eventually prevail upon Earth, leading to a totalitarian one-world government – a world where everyone will be subject to the Antichrist and his reign of absolute terror.  What that means is that there can be no free people left at that time, which in turn means that the Evil Kosmos (which is this sinful, fallen, evil world’s system of priorities and thought) must during the years and decades leading to that moment work to ensure that there are no free people left upon the planet.

Now, it’s important to know that the Evil Kosmos isn’t monolithic (and doesn’t need to be – at least not at this time); meaning that it can take many different forms depending upon the circumstances and the parts of the world in question.  For instance, where the Evil Kosmos is dominated by communism, no one is free.  Where the Evil Kosmos is dominated by Islam, very few are free.  Where the Evil Kosmos is dominated by socialism, most are still free, but the freedoms are continually decreasing, since socialism is communism’s gateway drug.  And in the once free and valiant West, this growing trend of socialism is aided by the cult of climate change in order to hasten the downfall of the West by enslaving its people.

But Barry, how does that work?  Well, it’s very simple: You create a crisis, and then you manage the crisis.  And when the crisis is over, people will be less free.  Then you engineer another crisis, and do the same thing.  And on and on and on.  In the end, the people will be owned by their government, as happened to all of Egypt during the 7 years of famine as recorded early in the Book of Exodus.

If you doubt this, just look at the outcome of the COVID crisis, whether you belive that it (meaning COVID itself) was engineered or just naturally happened.  Are we freer now than we were back in 2019, or less free?  And did you see how the U.S. government (and many, many others) stepped in to take care of everyone, to be the savior of us all, whether we wanted it or not?  Did you notice how the inner dictator in the likes of Fauci, Newsom, Whitmer and others showed its evil face, and even to this day doesn’t want to cede any power lost by the people back to the people?

That’s the march of totalitarianism; that’s the march of the Evil Kosmos; and that’s the march of the climate changelings and their climate change cult.  It is ultimately part of the preparation for the Antichrist and his empire.

So, before moving to our conclusion, there’s one more matter to clear up, and it’s the matter of me calling this social push to get everyone in line with climate change and its set of doomsday scenarios a cult, and that bears some explanation.  Essentially, there are 2 ways to define a cult: spiritually, and socially.  Spiritually, a cult is defined by a marked departure from religious orthodoxy; so, from a Christian perspective, the Jehovah’s Witnesses are a cult.  Meaning that they’ve drastically changed the nature of God, they’ve drastically changed the nature of Jesus Christ, and they’ve drastically changed the Scriptures and the Gospel message.

But socially, a cult is defined by an unusually high degree of control over the lives of those involved.  Examples of this would naturally include Jim Jones and his followers, the Branch Davidians, early Mormonism, and the current Fundamentalist Church of the Latter-Day Saints, etc.

And so right away it’s easy to notice that a cult usually has some kind of religious overtones.  It will have its sacred writings, or its sacred personalities, or both, and these always end up exerting a massive controlling influence on the lives of its followers.  And unsurprisingly, the climate change movement is easily classified as a cult in the social sense, because it aims to exert absolute control over those under its influence.  Really, you may say, what kind of influence?

Well, the Climate Cult seeks to dictate to us that we can’t drive gasoline- or diesel-powered automobiles.  It seeks to dictate to us that we can’t use electricity created via fossil fuels.  It seeks to dictate to us that we should forsake single-family homes.  The Climate Cult seeks to dictate to us the appropriate size of a home.  It seeks to dictate to us that we shouldn’t eat meat.  It seeks to dictate to us that we shouldn’t use gas- or propane-fired stoves, ovens and fireplaces.  The Climate Cult seeks to dictate to us that we must recycle.  It seeks to dictate to us where we can live and not live.  It seeks to dictate to us how many children we can have, and the Climate Cult seeks to dictate to us what we can eat and drink, and on and on the list can go.  It’s seeking total cult-like control over everyone on Earth.

So, you may have noticed that the cults I cited earlier all had a religious flavor to them, and that’s not without reason – almost all cults have a deep-seated religious fervor driving their need to control all those under their sway.  And guess what, the Climate Cult is no different.  Now, I understand better than most that the climate changelings (meaning those who follow the Climate Cult) are by and large an atheistic lot (meaning they don’t believe in God, or if they do belive in a god, that god is subordinate to their climate change theology).  But as a movement, climate change does have its holy writings, and it does have its saints and prophets.

So, what are its holy writings, its enlightened ideals that are so much better than everyone else’s?  It’s pretty simple, really.

  • Humanity is bad for the planet
  • Carbon is bad for the planet
  • Humanity’s carbon footprint will destroy the planet
  • Eating meat is bad for the planet
  • Fossil fuels are evil
  • Green energy is godly

And like any good cult, the cult of climate change divides the world into two groups: those who worship the idea of climate change, and those who do not.  Now, Islam famously does this, as it divides the world into two groups: The House of Islam, and the kafirs/infidels (those who reject Islam), and it (meaning Islam) gives those of the House of Islam the right to murder, persecute and enslave the infidels.

Well, sadly, the climate change cult does exactly the same thing – it divides the world into two groups, which are the Faithful (these are the dutiful climate changelings who believe every word from their worshiped experts), and then there are those classified as Deniers (those of us who think this is all something that’s come out of a horse’s rearend).  And just like Islam, the Climate Cult gives its followers permission to ruthlessly attack and destroy those it deems as Climate Deniers, since we’re truly the worst kind of infidels imaginable.

And then finally, like any good cult, the Climate Cult has its saints and prophets – those public figureheads of the movement whose words are worshiped as if Scripture.  These are people like John Kerry, Al Gore, Greta Thunberg, or take your pick from any U.N. President of recent memory, etc.  It’s nothing more than a cleverly disguised religious movement designed to enslave the population of Earth.

CONCLUSION

Alright, so let’s wrap this puppy up.  Knowing all of this, what are we to do?  Well, to me, there are two things that are a must: Fight the evil, and do what is right by planet Earth.  Let’s begin with the issue of fighting evil.  In this case it means to oppose the climate change cultic agenda in every way possible: We oppose it scientifically.  We oppose it socially.  We oppose it politically.  We oppose it theologically.  We oppose it prayerfully.  And we oppose it in every outlet we can find: in our conversations, in our writings, in our blogs, in our podcasts and in our pulpits.

Now let’s move on to the issue of doing what is right by planet Earth.  As followers of Christ Jesus and as students of His Word, we must not – must not – let those enthralled of the Evil Kosmos dictate to us how to be good stewards of our planet, because everything they believe, everything they say and everything they do actually leads to the ultimate destruction of our planet.  We are not to take part in that.

Instead, let us turn to the Scriptures in order to rightly understand the idea of earthly stewardship, and we don’t have to go far, for we find it in the very first chapter of the Bible, in Genesis 1:26-28, where we read (ESV): Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.  And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

And so, we see that humanity was given stewardship of Earth, and everything upon it.  Meaning, essentially, that the affairs of Earth are human affairs, and so as go human affairs, so goes the health of the planet.  But notice – and this is key – notice that humanity’s stewardship of Earth is mentioned in the same passage as is our being made in the image of God, making the two ideas inseparable, and so this is where things get really easy.  Simply put, being a good steward of Earth is ensuring that the image of God survives and thrives in humanity and upon our planet – after that, the rest will take care of itself.

So then, what is the image of God?  Well, it’s not exactly specified in the Bible, but I like to nutshell it as being those Philippians 4:8 things, meaning those things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and praiseworthy.  Things without which life on Earth wouldn’t be worth living.

You see, Earthly stewardship isn’t about recycling or saving whales or driving an electric vehicle (although if you want to do these things, go for it!).  Instead, it’s about fostering an existence, or a civilization, that honors those things that are pleasing to God.  And according to the national blessings and curses of Deuteronomy 28, doing so will be good both for the land and for the climate.

PRAYER

Sir, we thank You for Your incredible design of this amazing planet, and how that design is so far above these climate changelings and their paltry little computer models of how all things atmospheric work.  We thank You for giving to us the wonderful sun to warm and fuel our planet, and for the symbiotic relationship between plants, carbon and breathing creatures (including us).  What an incredible home You have built for us!  Give us hearts to take care of this home, but in the way that Your Word describes: by ensuring that those things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and praiseworthy survive – and even thrive – upon this glorious blue-green orb of ours – in order that the image of God would be exalted in every way that it’s in our power to do so while we dwell below.  Amen.
