In the fifth century B.C. there was a governmental plot afoot to exterminate the Jews, but it had a highly different outcome. Here’s how it’s recorded in Scripture: The Jews struck down all their enemies with the sword, killing and destroying them, and they did what they pleased to those who hated them (Esther 9:5 NIV).
